Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best known for portraying Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she earned the Emmy Award. Her credits include All My Children Philly CSI: Miami & Army Wives. She was born as the only child of a high-ranking executive in the United Auto Workers and a homemaker Delaney grew up with her four brothers. As a child she was aspired to become a reporter for the court. After graduating from high school and relocating to New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. Her first job as an actor was as an innocent teenager in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney is an acclaimed actress, appearing in many films, television shows, and dramas. Delaney has not lived a successful or happy personal life. The talented actress struggled to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fall apart. In 2005, the actress lost the custody of her son.
